Birthday Cake Nachos

Camp traditions help create memories. This year a new tradition was started. When Elizabeth’s birthday arrived in the middle of camp, we decided to put a twist on her birthday treat. Wilton’s recipe for Birthday Cake Nachos was a snap to prepare and they looked great going out with a candle nestled in a bowl of sprinkles. The buttery taste of the nachos with the cake mix flavor was additive, we couldn’t eat just one. So, if you come to camp, a hunt, or a retreat at the lodge, chances are there will be some Birthday Cake Nachos in your future.

1 package (12 ounces) semi sweet chocolate, milk chocolate or Wilton candy melts(especially if you want a color theme)

1/2 cup Rainbow Jimmies Sprinkles 6.25 Oz. (divided)

2 bags (13 ounces each) salted tortilla chips (divided)

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted (divided)

1 package (15.25 ounces) white cake mix (divided)

1 package (8 ounces) thawed frozen whipped topping

Preheat oven to 350.

In large bowl, toss 1 bag tortilla chips with 1/2 cup butter until evenly coated. Add half of the cake mix (about 1-1/2 cups) and 3 tablespoons sprinkles; toss until combined. Spread on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining chips, butter and 3 tablespoons sprinkles; add to baking sheet.

Bake 15 minutes, stirring after 7 minutes. Cool in pan on cooling grid 5 minutes. Drizzle with melted chocolate or melted Candy Melts Candy, dollop with whipped topping, and sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons sprinkles. Serve immediately.
