Meet the Woodfins

Legacy Outdoor Ministries is led by Kyle and Alanna Woodfin.

“There are those times when God invites you to join Him on an adventure that will not only transform your life but the lives of many others around you. That invitation from the Lord came while I was serving as Pastor of Helen First Baptist Church and as Director of Georgia Mountain Resort Ministries in Helen, GA. Helen is a tourist town in the North GA mountains that receives visitors from all over the country and the world. Our mission challenge was to develop ministries to share the Gospel with those who came on vacation, as well as those who were there to work and to live in Helen.

As the Lord led us, I began to see just how effective it was to reach people through recreational ministries. At the same time, my children were coming along, and as a young dad and pastor, I really began to see the need to reach men with the Gospel and to disciple them to be godly husbands and dads for their families.

Hunting has always been a big part of my life. I grew up rabbit hunting with my dad and quail hunting with my granddad. I spent many days in the field with these two godly men. While I didn't realize it at the time, they were not only teaching me how to hunt and to be a woodsman, but they were also teaching me valuable lessons of life and manhood. They were also teaching me the joy of walking with the Lord in all of life. That legacy passed down to me is much of what God has used to bring me to salvation in Christ and to call me out to be a godly husband, dad, and minister of the Gospel.

On January 1, 2000 — Y2K Day — my wife, Alanna, and I stepped out to start Legacy Outdoor Ministries. Since that time, the Lord has led us on a journey to develop a ministry that does what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 9:22: "I have become all things to all men, that by all possible means I might save some." We have sought to develop ministries that come alongside men, understand where they are in life, and speak their language, so that we might bring them to Christ and then have the opportunity to disciple them to be the godly husbands and dads they need to be for their families, churches, and communities.

Today, LOM is located in Pulaski County, GA, on the 2,465-acre Browndale Plantation, where we do year-round ministry through hunting and the shooting sports. We offer a number of kids' ministries, from a summer camp that teaches basic shooting and the Georgia Hunter Safety Course, to kids' squirrel, rabbit, coon, and quail hunts, as well as fishing in our well-stocked bass and bream ponds. As for our men's ministries, we offer a variety of Father-Son and Father-Daughter hunts, deer and hog hunts for men's groups and church men's ministries, Police Officer Retreats, Pastor Retreats, family hunt retreats, and more. We also offer a limited number of quail hunts for groups. Our lodge can accommodate up to 13 people in beds, with a couple of great sleeping sofas as well. We also have a gun range that offers shotgunning, a pistol range, and a 225-yard rifle range, so that we can also offer a retreat built around the range.

LOM and Browndale Plantation are not set up to be a commercial operation — we are set up to be a ministry. We do not sell hunts just for the sake of hunting. Each activity we book must have a ministry focus. Our hunting and our plantation are what allow us to come alongside those who might not necessarily come to church, but would love to come on a hunt. Browndale is a place where men can come out of their "man-made world" and into God's created world, and experience the God of creation and redemption.

Put a group of men, or fathers and children, together — and come join us for a hunt of a lifetime.”

The Lodge

Nestled on 2,400 acres in Hawkinsville, Georgia, our 4-bedroom hunting lodge is the heart of everything we do at Legacy Outdoor Ministries. Guests gather on the porch and back deck, share meals, and unwind around the fire pit after a day on the water or in the woods. With three ponds for fishing and kayaking, a gun range, and hunting land in every direction, the lodge is more than a place to stay — it's where fathers and sons, friends and families slow down together and grow closer to each other, and to Christ.

The Land

Browndale Plantation spans 2,400 acres of Georgia woods, fields, and waterways — with hunting stands set across the property for deer, turkey, quail, and hog. Whether you're a father teaching a son to still-hunt or a group chasing the last light of dusk, this land was made for it.
